Cowboys go riding into Morata league

WEST KANGE paid the prize for under-estimating Waigani Cowboys by going down 10-8 in a physical and very exciting match in Morata Off-season Rugby League competition yesterday.
Led by Wari Vele Raiders fullback Manuel Uki at five-eighth, Samuel Dy at halfback, centres Jackson Day and Stanley Korowa and forwards Blacky David, Willie Kiin, Nick Dy and lock forward Mark Tee, Kanges came firing in the dying minutes but fulltime siren deny them the win.
North Waigani just kept their heads down with half-back Junior Nelson and five-eighth James John dictating the play for their players.
Kanges were first to register their first point through hooker Ros Koba and winger Aja Umba converted it to put them infront 6-0. However, Cowboys fought strong back to score through rampaging forward Dicksen Tegen who unstoppable near the tryline to score and trail 6-4.
The game seasawed but Kanges held on to lead 6-4 at half time.
In other Mountain Eagles lost to Talapia 10-8, Raiders down Gateway Sharks 10-8, Eastern Eels was too slippery for Wata Rangers to win 18-10, Roosters and Tigers drew 4-4 while the results of the main game between Bulldogs and Hawks were not available in the time for print.
