Digicel donate K50,000 to PNG Games Lae organisers

DIGICEL has won an exclusive telecom sponsor of the PNG Games by committing K50,000 towards the event.
As part of the sponsorship, the telephone company will provide Games officials with Digicel handsets including K100 free credit to faciliate communications during the Games, and will provide the officials with Digicel uniforms..
The third PNG National Games will be staged in Lae from November 16 until November 24.
A total of 19 provinces are expected to participate in this yearís National Games with each province sending teams of a few hundred athletes.
Team Morobe has already confirmed its participation with a team of 700 athletes from
the province.
PNG Sports Foundation acting executive directo John Kambuou said, ěThank you Digicel for coming on board and sponsoring the PNG National Games. The PNG National Games is the biggest event in PNG and in the Pacific, where athletes of all levels and in different sports from all over the country come together and have the opportunity to compete on a national level. We need to train and nurture our talent at a grass roots level first to be in a position to participate on an international level. The PNG National Games provides this platform for all athletes and we are proud of this.î

Digicelís sponsorship of the PNG National Games follows its announcement last month of its sponsorship of the PNG Disabled Athletes Team.
