Ramu NiCo aids Madang

RAMU NiCo (MCC) Limited made a timely donation to dress up Team Madang in the nine sports they would be participating in the coming national games in Lae starting this weekend.
A cash donation of K2,000 was given to the management of the provincial team to help them pay for uniforms on Tuesday.
The money would be used to pay uniforms for soccer, basketball, rugby touch, volleyball, hockey, rugby nines, athletics and the disabled team.
In handing over the money, MCC’s chief sports coordinator, Christopher Aizuwe said that although the company is in its infant stage, it is willing to support sports and any other social development in the province.
“MCC want to work closely with all stakeholders including the government and people of Madang,” Aizuwe said.
“Therefore, the company is pleased to assist in sports development in the province,” he said.
Willie Bagore, manager of Team Madang applauded MCC for its timely donation.
“This is the first donation from any business house so far. None in Madang wants to assist us. MCC is the only company, although is new,” Bagore said.
“I want to thank MCC and its management for coming to our aid in the last hour,” he said.
Team Madang will be participating in soccer, basketball, rugby nines, rugby touch, volleyball, hockey, dart, athletics and the disabled sports. About 270 sports men and women will be travelling to Lae today.
“Team Madang has prepared well and would be a force to be reckoned at the coming national games,” Bagore said.
The women’s basketball team, who won gold at the Games in Goroka, will out in full force to defend their title.
Early this week, the company donated K200 to Richard Gambu, a quadriplegic who will also be participating in the national games.
