ONE comment that has to be made after the last two months – too many law professionals aren’t, if you follow us. There certainly seems to have been a sharp decline in standards in recent times, with our judges rightly issuing thunderous warnings emanating from the bench.

IN our opinion certain members of the legal fraternity are paid obscene amounts of money for representing clients; that’s bad enough, but when those legal eagles prove to be earthbound turkeys, it’s all a bit much. Those chubby fowls only become airborne when indulging in flights of fancy relating to their salaries.

SPY reports that Modilon hospital over there in Madang now has a fully operational CT4 machine. Doesn’t mean much to you? It means a great deal to AIDS victims in the province; it’s the piece of equipment that measures, among other readings, the cell count of “the good guys”, the blood component that fights to keep the immune systems of AIDS sufferers working. Well done Modilon!

ARCHIE is a gentleman cat belonging to a neighbour of ours. A smart feline, he’s worked out that a winsome expression combined with a strenuous sucking-in of breath rendering his furry profile skeletal, are sure to prompt us to rush to the fridge and mount a rescue operation. The neighbour of course feeds him more than adequately but we find it hard to resist that “I am a destitute orphan at Death’s door” look.

WE mentioned Archie because we’ve realised that the nocturnal thumps we’ve been experiencing are neither rampant thugs nor gurias; no, they’re Mr Archie flinging himself at the veranda rail when occupied by a particularly war-like, bilious green descendant of Brunhilde, of whom we wrote last week. We’ll back Frau Frog any day.
