First city solar street light installed

Eastpac Ltd has installed Lae’s first solar street light as part of its focus to promote products in line with conserving the environment.
The company last Wednesday set up the solar street light at the boundary of the Lae Chinese Club to the thrill of local residents near the club.
Manager Melvin Gwhee said: “The eco-lighting system is part of our GrenZone products that includes eco-floating jetties.”
It was installed by local trained workmen of contractor TechnoZone Ltd.
“Our Grenzone products are an innovative technology to design and manufacture product applications with a focus on sustaining the environment for a healthier and safer living environment,” Mr Gwhee said.
Eastpac develops reliable plug-and-play energy efficient devises and systems that can be used in diverse applications from ordinary households to rural village life.
“Part of our effort is to conserve the environment by developing low power and energy efficient products of high quality and ruggedness where safety, economic return and energy consumption are achieved in harmony for a ‘greener earth’,” he said.
“Sustaining the environment for future generations is everyone’s responsibility,” Mr Gwhee said, adding the continuous emission of green house gases can be prevented by using environmentally friendly products.
