Cappo’s son charged with stealing

A son of the late Ivo Cappo has been charged with stealing under Section 372 (1) of the Criminal Code Act.
Lawson Cappo from Laigam, Enga province, was alleged to have stolen four computers valued at K12,000 from his employer in August.
Yesterday, out on a K300 bail, he failed to turn up for mention at the Committal Court in Waigani resulting in his matter adjourned to next month.
The alleged incident occurred between Aug 9 and 10, when the accused, was employed as a casual information technology (IT) officer by the National Judicial Staff Services (NJSS) in Waigani.
The accused and another co-worker were asked to install programmes to four new Dell brand PC from the IT Division before they were to be sent to four respective provincial locations.
On Aug 10 the IT systems administrator and IT manageress discovered that the four PC were missing.
The accused was alleged to be the last person working on them.
He was charged and arrested by police on Oct 11 and brought to Boroko police station in Port Moresby.
His hearing is set for Dec 19.
