Telikom set up at LFA ground

Telikom PNG limited yesterday set up its stall at the Lae Football Association Ground in Lae after it was ejected from the Sir Ignatius Kilage Stadium by the PNG Sports Foundation.
Telikom employees were busy displaying the latest products and services offered by the local telecommunication company to the many soccer mad population in Lae and those that traveled in from other provinces in PNG who were at the grounds to watch the matches.
“We have asked them to erect their stall at LFA and they have done that. The PNG Sports Foundation cannot touch them now. They don’t own the LFA grounds,” a spokesman for the organising committee said.
The spokesman said the organising committee did not have any problems with Telikom and welcomed their participation in the games.
The stand off between the PNGSF and the organising committee over sponsorship involving Telikom and Digicel PNG Limited has resulted in the PNG company withdrawing its sponsorship to the 3rd Games worth K71,000.
The company however, was acknowledged on advertisements and public materials produced by the organising committee as one of the sponsors of the games.
