Gewa, Bogenbo replaced as a result of infighting

THE Oro Provincial Disaster Committee coordinator Copland Gewa and his deputy Albert Bogenbo have been replaced due to infighting between them in the management of the disaster, acting administrator Paul Namono said yesterday.
Deputy provincial administrator Thomson Manuda is now the provincial disaster committee coordinator.
Mr Namono said they had replaced Mr Gewa and Mr Bogenbo because their infighting was causing confusion in the management of information.
He said the province was in the dark in relation to prioritising and identifying the worst affected areas so that available supplies could reach the affected people.
This had been going on since last week.
Mr Namono said the current provincial disaster coordinating centre was also in a shamble.
Meanwhile, security forces liaison officer Major Nick Henry warned the provincial disaster committee that they needed to establish a coordinating centre quickly to avoid confusion in the coming days.
“We will have NGOs coming here with their supplies and programmes. They will want to go about doing their own programmes without consulting us.”
Oro Governor Suckling Tamanabae said the disaster was a blessing in disguise.
“It can be seen as a cleansing of the old and the emerging of the new Oro.”
