POMIS to host arts show

By SIONI RUMA
In an event designed to bring contemporary PNG art to the wider public, Port Moresby International School (POMIS) will be hosting a large public arts show next week.
The show will present recent artwork both by its own students and other 20 local artists.
POMIS will open its doors to the public from Nov 26 to 30, between 10am and 3pm.
Entry is free of charge. Groups from local schools were also invited to the visit by prior arrangements with the school, while invited guests may attend the opening on the evening of Nov 24 from 6-8pm.
The main purpose of this show is firstly to showcase the talent and skills of arts students and to provide an opportunity for them to show work alongside professional artists.
The show is intended to bring students together with up and coming local artists within the artistic community.
The artists selected to take part represent some of the most exiting new talent PNG had to offer.
Their style and approach was progressive, whilst retaining a flavour of the country and its culture.
It is hoped that sales of the artwork will give artists a boost and generate publicity for individual artists and contemporary PNG art as a whole.
