Man pleads guilty of killing wife

A MAN chopped his wife twice across her neck, killing her as she sat breastfeeding their infant child at Koimunuga village at Bulolo, Morobe province, last Jan 17.
Hanisam Moses pleaded guilty in front of Lae National Court judge Justice Sao Gabi.
The court heard he attacked his wife out of frustration because he had been sick and almost died after accusing his wife of preparing his food without cleaning herself during her monthly period.
Moses spoke in his local dialect through an interpreter because he could not speak English or Pidgin.
The court heard that Moses chopped his wife Anasa Nema beside the fire place outside his elder brother’s house on the morning of Jan 17.
The court heard that the unsuspecting wife lost hold of her child and died where she sat.
Justice Gabi accepted his guilty plea, adjourned proceedings and requested a pre-sentence report to be compiled and submitted by Dec 7 for sentencing.
The judge also set Dec10 for possible decision on sentence.
