Landowner concerned over lack of service delivery

A concerned landowner from the mountainous districts bordering Gulf and Morobe has claimed that the Government has continuously failed to bring sustainable developments and services to the area resulting in the people being left to suffer.
This concern came amidst the landowner’s recent visit to East New Britain province to liaise with Agmark, Cocoa and Coconut Institute (CCI) and National Agriculture Research Institute (NARI) to help provide assistance to the districts concerned in terms of cash crop farming and expert agricultural advice.
Jack Piangu, who called into The National office in Kokopo to express his frustrations, said for far too long the people of Menyamya and Aseki in Morobe province and Kaintiba and Kutitanga in Gulf province had been neglected and left to suffer.
Mr Pianga believed Agmark, CCI and NARI would greatly help his people back home and so had taken the initiative to visit them at Kokopo to liaise for assistance.
He said though there was coffee in the area, there is no good transportation system in place, and the markets could not be reached.
He also called on the people of Menyamya and Aseki districts and Kaintiba and Kutitanga to join a newly formed association called the Kamea Kukukuku Land Group to fight for development because Government services and other developments were not reaching the people.
He claimed that there were no police services, no proper hospitals and schools and the health workers were believed to be unqualified.
Mr Pianga believed that with the assistance of these organisations and with the formation of the landowner’s association, tangible developments could be brought to the area.
