NHC should get itself organised

CAN those in charge of the National Housing Corporation (NHC) do something about the internal mess?
I have been to the NHC head office at Tokarara countless times since September trying to pay off the amount outstanding for a property.
Every time I go there, NHC officers give me all sorts of excuses why they cannot accept payment.
The common excuses have been the cashier “is not available” or that some officer has not come in for work or has been suspended or terminated.
Sometimes, the office is even closed during normal working hours!
While fronting up at the NHC all these times, I have learnt a few interesting things.
A lot of NHC officers do not come to work or come in very late, more than 12 senior officers have been suspended or terminated, most of the time the NHC office is open for half a day and there are allegations of widespread corruption, particularly in awarding of contracts to private firms.
If the Government is serious about providing housing for the people of PNG, particularly the hard working public servants, it should seriously look into how things are being managed at the NHC.
No matter what, I will continue to front up at the NHC with my payment.
If I don’t, I might find myself in the same unfortunate situation as the Magisterial Services or the poor widow who was kicked out of her property.
