Churches and govt must work together

AN East New Britain parliamentary leader has called on the church and the Government to improve its working relationship for a better socio-economic well being of the nation.
Member for Gazelle Open Malakai Tabar said the same person in the church is also in the Government and therefore the working relationship between the church and Government at various levels must be improved for a better PNG.
Mr Tabar was speaking during the 43rd graduation and commissioning ceremony of 16 pastors at the George Brown Pastors College at Vunairima, Gazelle district.
He said all people must understand the working relationship that the church is paramount in the society.
“The individual and the community generally must learn to understand the link and relationship – God, mankind, the church, government and universal treaties and agreements.
“Without the church, there would not be any government and it does not work the other way,” he said.
“The church is paramount in society and the civil arrangements of existence,” he said.
He also highlighted the possible roles the district and the province can play in the socio-economic development of the country.
“Gazelle district and East New Britain plays an important part in the socio-economic well-being of this nation,” Mr Tabar added.
“We are strongly supported by the efforts of others today, to experience real term development and to see some tangible change.”
Mr Tabar further said he was the person in charge of the group and will be expecting stronger support from everyone in the electorate and the province.
He said institutions such as the George Brown Pastors College and other church-run institutions must also be looked after as they offer programmes that influence the social behaviour of the people.
Meanwhile, he pledged K10,000 to the college and said necessary arrangements would be made to pass the pledge from his administration to the institution.
