Water supply project launched

ANOTHER water supply project has been launched at the Kumalu Two village of Mumeng local level government (LLG) area in Bulolo, Morobe province over the weekend.
This brings to six the water supply projects in the Bulolo district that have been launched by Bulolo MP Sam Basil when he initiated the project.
“During my election campaign in the remote areas of Bulolo, I had witnessed that many villages living in the savanna plains had water problems,” Mr Basil said.
“These villages have been left prone to health risks for the last 20 to 30 years because of unclean water.
“And this has prompted me to fund water supply projects for these affected areas for the remaining year,” he said.
Mr Basil said he would allocate another K800,000 in the next Bulolo district joint planning and budget priority committee meeting to continue the water project into the other six LLGs in the electorate.
Mr Basil said Wau-Bulolo district’s 2008 Budget would mainly focus on road works and maintenance, adding other infrastructure developments would come in when there were accessible roads in the remote villages.
“Water saves life. Water is our life. The people of Bulolo should now be happy to have an ‘action member (MP)’ because he was capable of delivering service right to our door steps within the last four months,” Mumeng LLG council president Mathias Philip said.
