PNG to host Order of St John today

PAPUA New Guinea will host the Grand Prior of The Order of St John when The Duke of Gloucester arrives in Port Moresby today to celebrate the 50th anniversary of St John in the country.
The Duke of Gloucester Prince Richard Alexander Walter George will spend five days in the country before leaving on Dec 2.
National St John Council of PNG chairman , Gari Baki said Prince Richard is here at the invitation of the Governor-General Sir Paulias Matane, the National St John Council of PNG president.
The actual celebrations of the 50th anniversary is this Friday, when the prince will visit St John establishments in Port Moresby.
He will also visit Post PNG for the launching of the St John 50th anniversary commemorative stamps and will post a first day cover to Queen Elizabeth.
After the launching, he will visit St John blood service, the blood laboratory and the Eye Clinic at Port Moresby General Hospital, where St John volunteers work.
Prince Richard will visit the St John Ambulance station at Taurama where the St John blind service will showcase skills of blind persons on musical keyboards, computer and Braille.
He will visit Wewak for a day, where St John Ambulance is actively established.
