Paying up dues

AFTER the fun and excitement, it is now time to take stock of the expenses that are owed by the host organising committees to all the service providers of the 3rd PNG Games in Lae.
Marketing officer Bami Sorekeine said on Friday that they will pay all the services providers from transportation to security services.
Sorekeine could not confirm the total amount of money that owed to all the service providers but said the HOC is working on the various claims before processing and paying out this week.
Some service providers had provided services at heavily discounted prices.
Security, for instance, would have cost a massive K45,000 but the firm ñ Armsec ñ only charged K15,000, writing off K30,000 as its contribution to the Games.
Many technical officials presented a signed petition to the PNG Games Council asking for payments of about K24, 000 for their part in the games.
The technical officials will be paid some money as a form of appreciation, PNG Games Council chairman Edris Kumbrawah said last Friday.
