A welcoming news for women

THE announcement by Deputy Prime Minister Dr Puka Temu to appoint women to Parliament, utilising Section 102 of the Constitution is welcome news for our women population and the delight is also shared among grandfathers, fathers, husbands, sons, Government agencies and NGOs.
Two prominent women leaders – Susan Setae and Scholla Kakas – were among the first to welcome the news.
The contribution by women to the development of this country since independence has gone unnoticed.
We now expect to see more women talking and men listening instead of the other way around.
I am sure that some of the things women say would not go down well with their male counterparts.
It is not because the women’s views are wrong but it is just that men are culturally blind.
We need some expertise from the women to put these little things right.
