Teachers in EHP receive training to manage school

SCHOOLS in three districts of Eastern Highlands would now develop their own strategic plans to implement, based on their needs.
This was made possible following the completion of a week-long workshop conducted by Goroka-based Appropriate Technology Project (ATP) for head teachers in the Daulo, Goroka and Ungai-Bena districts last week.
The workshop was aimed at teaching the head teachers to identify needs and develop plans to improve school infrastructure based on their needs.
One of the participants Nancy Matagogo said the workshop provided a rare opportunity to allow them to acquire knowledge vital to initiate sustainable infrastructure developments in the schools.
She said it was essential for them to adopt skills necessary to guide them for proper planning in utilising the limited funds to maximise the benefits.
Spectrum of workshop in particular emphasised on teachers’ for their students’ sanitation, hygiene and well-being at school as well as at home.
Other participants described the training as empowering the school administrators and teachers to assist development which would consequently benefit the children in the long run.
The workshop was funded by Oxfam PNG and facilitated by ATC.
