Duke of Gloucester arrives in PNG

THE Duke of Gloucester and Grand Prior of the Order of St John arrived in Port Moresby rousing welcome yesterday.
He was met and welcomed by Acting Prime Minister and Minister for Lands and Physical Planning and Mining Dr Puka Temu, British High Commissioner David Dunn and other dignitaries.
In a briefing with reporters yesterday, the duke said it was his second visit to the country since 1969, when he travelled to PNG at the age of 20 and visited parts of the country.
The Duke of Gloucester, formerly known as Prince Richard of Gloucester, will be in the country till Dec 2.
He is expected to pay courtesy visits to parts of Port Moresby and the Moem Barracks in Wewak, East Sepik.
Soon after his arrival yesterday, the duke paid a courtesy call on the Governor-General Sir Paulias Matane, and later attended a dinner hosted by Sir Paulias at the Parliament House last night.
