Authorities turning a deaf ear on residents

FOLLOWING the continuous rain in recent days, the road condition off Nigibata Road, Gerehu, has deteriorated. The housing area situated at the bottom of the hills separating Gerehu Stage 2B and Tete settlement is waterlogged.
Residents of the small housing estate spent most of last weekend pushing, pulling and towing vehicles which got bogged down in the mud on the feeder road leading to their residential area.
Repeated calls to the local past and current members (Moresby North West and NCD) to address this problem have fallen on deaf ears.
Basic service like garbage collection is almost non-existent and NCDC is simply not interested.
Numerous appeal letters signed by residents were sent over the years but as usual, nothing was forthcoming from the authorities.
We are fed up with this attitude. As taxpayers, we do not believe our elected members are interested in addressing our problems.
