By JAMES APA GUMUNO
WAMP Nga Holding Ltd owned by three local level government councils in Western Highlands province has received international recognition for excellence as a business entity.

Wamp Nga received the World Quality Commitment International Star Awards in Paris last Monday night.
The recognition was under the “renewal of quality commitment” category.
General manager Michael Makap and board chairman Wai Rapa travelled to Paris to receive the award on behalf of the company.
This was the first of its kind in the country where a business owned by three LLGCs had received an international award.
Camillus Kumbi, assistant general manager for Wamp Nga Group of Co (WNGC), yesterday said for a small company to be recognised internationally was something very special for the company and people in the province.
Mr Kumbi said Mr Rapa and Mr Makap were now on their way back to the country with the trophy, which was expected to be paraded around Mt Hagen city on Friday for the people to see and appreciate.
He said WNGC was among 150 other business entities throughout the world that had been recommended for the award.
Mr Kumbi said Wamp Nga won the Star Award in the gold category, which was the highest award followed, by platinum and diamond awards.
He said this was the second time for the country to receive such an award, the other being Nasfund.
Wamp Nga was established in 1968 and is owned by Mt Hagen Rural (60%), Anglimp (20%) and Nebilyer LLGCs (20%).
Some of the businesses owned by the company based in the province included Wamp Nga Real Estate, Hotel Kiminiga, The Computer Shop and Wamp Nga Fuel distributors.
The other corporate service they provided included training service, accounting, management services and overseas aid proponent services.
Other joint ventures included Vegemark Ltd and Melpa Liquor Distributors Ltd.
The company made a net profit of K790,000 after tax in 2005. Their 2006 performance was stilled being audited.
