Former Kumul to lead Gulf team

A VILLAGE team from Gulf Province province - K-Roosters - have expressed interest to participate in the Southern Region 9’s tournament this weekend at Lloyd Robson Oval in Port Moresby.
From Karama village in Kapi Constituency, the club has taken part in the Kerema RFL competition in 2001. They also took part in Kaipi competition from 1988 to 1992 and became winner in 1999.
The team will be led by former Port Moresby Vipers and Kumul five-eighth Tuksy “Iariva” Karu who will play a major role to lead his chargers to feel the taste of city football.
The team will be coached by Tora Ivora of Port Moresby Club house fame. He said this is the first time for a local team to take part. The team will enter the competition as underdogs.
The team’s training has been good in the last three weeks leading towards this weekend’s game.
Meanwhile, the team manager Maki Moses is appealing to the Karama community residing here in the NCD to give their support to the local team. H He is appealing to the Gulf Governor Havila Kavo and Kerema MP Titus Bombom for assistance and support towards the team.

The team is: Morgan Oti, Tuksy Iariva Karu. Spex Sarufa, Stabby Kake, Epsi Mapore, Chris Koi, Oscar Feroro, Andrew Sari, Morgan Oti,, Foster Kake, Hoa Laivase, Pala Tau, Kiro Helaoa, Levi Ika, Lobo Havila, Jafe Areori, Isa Havari, Alex Helaoa, Murphy Huka, Sefere Maki, Koi Oalori, J. Fox Kake and George Sari Paku.
The coach is Ivora while Moses is the manager while the trainer is Billy Hoea Maroa.
