Table tennis final to Chinese

A CHINESE team has won the semi-professional table tennis competition after beating Koroboro Cowboys in the men’s division.
Despite entering the competition two weeks late that wasn’t a setback as they proved all throughout the season they were a finals contender.
Chinese Medics gave Koroboro Cowboys a good run for their money when Ren and Dr Liu caused havoc on the tables.
Koroboro were superb in their reply with fast ball hits but Medics had a good night with a better advantage in speed and movement. Medics received the first prize- money of K500
Pre-grand final favourites Lakwaharu and Cadets were bundled out in the semi final earlier in the evening by the Medics and Koroboro Cowboys respectively. It was a showdown of two outsiders which brought the crowds to their toes with scintillating rallies from both teams.
Junior sensation Jackson Kariko seemed to excel in every game in the Open men’s and is a promising player.
In the women’s d hands in Vui Polume and Gima Taviri were too good defeating Lakwaharu teenagers Nanai Loi and Gagina Manoka 3-1. The winners and runner-ups walked away with K400 and K200 respectively.
In the B grade match, Thunderspin edged out Lalo Traders while Jackson Kariko and Vagi Stephen stamped their authority as the undisputed junior champions of 2007 by defeating Taora and Gunina 3-0.
“It was a successful night of talent display and the Chinese and Indonesian teams that participated in this year’s competition should be applauded for what they have thought us as players and administrators alike,” POM Table Tennis Association (PTTA) said.
The Chinese and Indonesian teams were commended for their participation bringing the code to new heights.
