Not all is well in Wabag

I REFER to the letter “Action governor makes his mark in Wabag” (Nov 13).
I agree with the writer with regard to the new BSP in Wabag, the mushrooming of food outlets, and boiled chickens sold along pedestrian pathway without due care for health and safety of the consumers.
However, I do not agree with the writer’s view that Wabag is least developed and Engans who have migrated, making betraying comments.
Wabag is a little town and cannot cater for every elite Engan.
It is already being squeezed in by surrounding communities and sooner or later, public servants will be compelled to live in settlements along the Kop creek.
We cannot continue to pretend that all is well in Enga.
The buildings in Wabag are not conforming to the regulatory requirements as the Provincial Building Board has virtually ceased to functions in the last decade or two.
Residents are converting their backyards into chicken poultry, or piggery, or goat farming yard.
Pigs from the surrounding communities are allowed to roam freely around in town, mingling with people.
These are happening under the watchful eyes of so-called town mayor/manager and provincial administrative bureaucrats.
They have done virtually nothing at all to curb the proliferation of unwarranted activities within the confines of town demarcation.
This depicts the gross dysfunction of the bureaucracy and breakdown on the rule of law.
