Power in favour over the Gazelle

By EKONIA PENI
CONSISTENT performers PNG Power are favoured over LBC Gazelle when they clash in the main match of the Digicel Port Moresby softball on Sunday.

The power men will be led by pitcher Danny Tovia and catcher brother Isikel Tovia Jr whose combination has been stable and they should receive solid batting to record another win.
Last weekend PNG Power had a bye while Gazelle lost 1-2 to Brown Eagles where pitching was Gazelle’s biggest problem when Dick Bart Jr was injured.
Although Nelson Kiap tried his best as standin for Bart Jr it was the absence of veteran hurler Patrick Pilak as an alternative pitcher that really hurt the Antelopes.
If Pilak can be available to pitch on Sunday then the contest with PNG power could be even up with Gazelle expected to have a slight edge given their batting line up
in the likes of Demas Totil Junior, David Micky, Colin Mangot, Jolam Jerry, Harry Mathew and Tony Karani to provide come opposition.
However the power men’s batting lineup of Alister Tavol (if available), the Tovia brothers Danny, Isikel Jr and Demas, Michael Parom, Nigel Seeto and Dimitries Wosley should be enough to cause havoc against Gazelle.
In the other matches on Sunday SPIA Manolos should edge Kopex, Dolphins could upset Airways Bears and Samurai should beat Malangan. While in tomorrow’s match Brown Eagles should beat Bullets.
In the women’s main match on Sunday, Bee Hive Gazelle could again struggle for a win given the slump in batting form lately.
Last week their form was well below a premier team when only Jenny and daughter† Washa scored the only two points in the Antelope’s loss (10-1) to Stingerz.
Gazelle’s batting lineup looks good on paper and must really lift themselves against a very strong Bear’s team.
If Gazelle continues with their inconsistencies then they will definitely struggle for a win.
In the women’s matches tomorrow Admiralty should beat Malangan, and Stingerz should be comfortable over BRE Wantoks in the match of the day.
