A NEW award ñ Life Time Achievement Award will be introduced under SP Sports Award next year.
SP Brewery marketing manager Tzao Shen Tan said this award will only given to highly recognised athlete or sports administrator who wins the same category for the fourth consecutive time.
The winner ñhe/she will automatically qualify and will collect K4,500.
He said the likely nominee must also possess the following attributes: “good role model for sports in the country, has exhibited and promoted sportsmanship qualities and of course has to be in the highest ranking in both national and international level.”
Tan said the SP Sports Award has progressed into new heights ñ has lived up to the 2007 Sports Award theme of “Aiming higher”
President of PNG Sports Federation Sir Henry ToRobert acknowledged SP Brewery continued support and appealed to National Sports Federation to submit nomination earlier
“We have decided to launch this event earlier than usual to allow early nominations. I am making special appeal to National Federation particularly this year to do justice to their athletes and officials by submitting their nominations as soon as possible.
He said the gala presentation is now scheduled for April 26 next year.
Sir Henry acknowledged volunteers in respective sports for their efforts in running sports in this country with much passion.
Both SP Brewery and PNGSF also commenced the on-going contribution of the support sponsors in making this event a reality.
