TWO glamour teams Blue Kumuls and Guria will lock horns in the grand final of the Goroka soccer association this Sunday at the National Sports Institute oval.
The fixture is expected to be a thriller as both sides have been displaying entertaining brand of football during the season to secure the final play-off.
Notably, the finals have been shifted to this month due to the election period as the venue played host to the Eastern Highlands election counting.
Blue Kumuls club president and a staunch soccer supporter John Daviaga said yesterday that his team were this season’s minor premiers and he was confident they would put up a good challenge against Guria at Sunday’s grand final encounter.
Daviaga said the Kumuls will be banking on midfielders in form of Philip Maino and Dominic Mark to coordinate the game plan. Onslaught.strikers to create havoc are Sylvester Hemo, John Naikambam and Robin Pondikau.
The Kumuls backline will be controlled by Lesley Guanjimi, Joshua Agunam and Reuben Daviaga with the goal-mouth guarded by keeper Jacob Misien.
Daviaga said his boys managed to secure the grand final berth after disposing Telikom 3-1 in the major semi final last weekend.
Guria, one of the pioneer soccer clubs in Goroka also has good players who would be out in full strength to repel the Blue Kumuls onslaught.
