Shortage of jet fuel and food stuff in Oro

A SHORTAGE of Jet A1 fuel and food for the relief supplies are again highlighted in Popondetta to Inter-Government Relations Minister Job Pomat yesterday.
The minister and his delegation visited the province to get updates on the status of the relief efforts.
They were briefed by both the Controller of the Oro Disaster State of Emergency (SoE) Col Vagi Oala and his delegation including senior officers from the provincial administration, and military task force commander, Lt Col Walter Enuma.
Mr Enuma, while briefing Mr Pomat and representatives from non-governmental organisations, international organisations, government officials and business houses, said logistics, especially the shortage of Jet A1 fuel, was the main problem.
Mr Pomat is expected to hold a press conference today in Port Moresby after returning from Popondetta this morning and will also inform the National Executive Council accordingly.
He said a special NEC meeting was to be held following his visit to the province so that Prime Minister Sir Michael Somare is also appropriately briefed before he visits the province next week.
Many issues raised during yesterday’s briefing at Popondetta are expected to be deliberated.
