Ten to play for new
Marus Cup
A TOTAL of 10 rugby league teams are expected to battle out
at the Kimbe Rugby League grounds, West New Britain province, this weekend
for the inaugural Marus Cup.
The tournament will attract teams from all over the province and a team will
be selected to represent West New Britain Province in the semi-professional
SP Cup rugby league competition next year.
Organising committee coordinator Boski Otta said the PNGRL has given the
go-ahead for Kimbe Rugby League to host the game this weekend.
Otta said teams from as far awat as Ulomona, Bialla and Kandrian/Gloucester
have confirmed their participations and will be arriving today to prepare
themselves.
He said Talasea MP Francis Marus has allocated K10,000 for the game and has
bought the cup and trophies to be presented to the winning teams.
Otta said this was the first time for an MP to support rugby league in the
province and this assistance would go a long way for young rugby league
players and Kimbe rugby league.
Marus, who also play for Kimbe Bulls, said he will assist where possible. |
