Cheap calls clogging B Mobile network

TELIKOM (PNG) Ltd has recorded about 1.2 million calls on the busiest days after introducing lower call rates this season for B Mobile customers and this is causing clogged-up network.
B Mobile phone users had been experiencing difficulties in the past two days connecting or never making connections at all. Most times, there were customer service messages saying the network was busy.
However, Telikom officials said the network was not down but the increased number of calls was causing network blockage.
One of the Telikom officials, who wished not to be named, said callers would have to just keep trying until their calls get through.
One subscriber noted that Telikom didn’t have the capacity yet to really handle volume because it was alleged that nothing can be done to free up space for more mobile calls.
