Chinese govt give another K1.4mil to PNG Defence

THE Papua New Guinea Defence Force (PNGDF) yesterday signed an agreement to receive another K1.4 million (RMB3 million) from the Chinese government.
Chinese ambassador to PNG Wei Ruixing and Defence Minister Bob Dadae signed the documents at Murray Barracks in Port Moresby.
The money would be made available after discussions are held between the Chinese embassy and Defence officials on where it will be used.
Last Wednesday, Mr Wei and Mr Dadae signed the release for K1.4 million for the maintenance and renovation of the military hospital located at Taurama Barracks in Port Moresby.
Defence Secretary Fred Punangi, Defence Chief of Staff Capt (Navy) Alois Ur Tom and other senior military officers attended the event.
Meanwhile, the minister said that he was happy with the assistance given by the Chinese government to assist the army.
