Maroons getting ready to spoil the party
MORATA 1 Maroons will be out to spoil the party for the Morata 2 Blues when they meet for the deciding match in the annual Morata State of Origin challenge at Kone Tigers Oval on Sunday.
It is likely that the Maroons will unleash their expensive buy in Kumul winger Eke Ene in this match to beef up their attack against the Blues.
Ene has not played since after the hectic SP Cup season and the Kumul training camps have been using the Morata Off-season Rugby League competition to maintain his fitness level.
Maroons forwards Jethro Kii, Robert Kay and Jonah Kuman are expected to lay the foundation for the Morata 1-based teams
They will also rely on halfback James Kapi and fullback Samson Ene to provide options in attack for the Maroons.
Blues on the other hand have Port Moresby City Rugby League season campaigners such as five-eighth Kevin Kepas and outside centre Joshua Lapa with the help of Mendi Muruks import Mathew Puka to lead the boys in the backline.
In the forwards, veteran Warren Metofa, Ruben Kepe, Justin Joseph, Dixon Kuntz, James Boom, Kos Wek and Eric Lipu will add a little tonic in the Blues’ attack against the Maroons.
James Boom was particular dangerous and powerful runner who always throws his body on the line. He will be a useful player from the reserve bench.
It should be a very good match to watch.
President of Morata Rugby Football League Billy Yaki said the winner of Blues and Maroons will collect Rex Paki Shield and some cash prize money.
Yaki said he would depend on the prize money from patron Paki but Morata League would offer K1,000 for the winner and K600 for the runner-up.
