Application of laws must be applied equally
I STRONGLY believe that several leaders in the current Government and the
Ombudsman Commission have compromised and delayed the referral of some
leaders to the Public Prosecutor.
This is not fair on the leaders who have had to go through the process.
This is a breach and those responsible must be held accountable.
I call for an immediate investigation into this issue.
There is a perception that there are three sets of laws in PNG. One for the
little people, one for the leaders and the other for the leaders of leaders.
This is a dangerous precedence. You cannot have other senior leaders
receiving preferred treatment over other elected leaders.
The application of laws must be played on a level playing field so that
justice is seen to be done for the little man as well as the big man.
Together they are equal under the law. - Peter Masi, Former Ombudsman
Air Niugini’s domestic services far from expectation
SOMETIMES I wonder if the Air Niugini management is
deaf or plain dumb.
Despite the countless complaints, the management has done nothing to improve
the situation. I am so disgusted with the airline.
Recently, I was a victim of Air Niugini’s incompetence and unacceptable
service.
I was scheduled to take a flight home from Jackson Airport on Dec 15. But
the flight was cancelled, not only a day, but for three consecutive days.
My flight finally took off on Dec 18.
The inconvenience I had to undergo was unbearable. Despite its poor service,
Air Niugini is forever raising the price of its airfare.
I would like to ask the Government whether it is going to improve domestic
air travel.
It is a hassle for the small people. - Grassroots tourist, via email
Questions for PEA execs
I WANT to ask the PEA executives three simples
questions: 1. Are we, PEA members from the statutory body of the Government,
benefiting or not from the negotiations with the DPM? 2. If not, why are we
still contributing the PEA membership subscription? 3. If we are not going
to benefit, can the PEA executives explain to us why they cannot fight for
the members rather than fighting for every public servant as some members
are not gaining anything while public servant who are not members are
getting a free ride. – Concerned PEA member, Via email
Vagi’s decision saluted
I WAS astonished to read the letter challenging the expulsion order of the
SoE controller for repeatedly bringing in alcohol into Oro province. The Oro
people are behind the controller and we support his decision. Foreigners
must abide the law of PNG if they want to stay in PNG. They have been warned
before at Girua Airport and chose to ignore the warning. They showed neither
respect to the controller nor PNG law. We salute you, Col Vagi. – Anthony

Daulo waits for Kondo’s plan
THE election is over, the budget has been passed and the Daulo people are
still waiting for their MP Kondo Patrick to announce his plans for the next
four and a half years and how he will use the K10 million. Other districts
have come out with their plans. Don’t tell us that it will take you five
years to draw up the plan. Daulo electorate must progress and we have given
you the mandate to bring about changes. – MA, Port Moresby
