A CHEQUE, reported to have been stolen from Lae district treasury, has been recovered.
The cheque valued at K1,318 was made out to Nilkande Landscaping and Signs Ltd for work around the city.
Someone had beaten the owner of the landscaping business to the Treasury office and collected the cheque at the beginning of last month.
The owner of Nilkande reported the case to the police.
It was later discovered that an associate of the firm had collected the cheque.
The owner of Nilkande Landscaping and Signs said he wished to publicly apologise for any distress his reporting of the thievery to police may have caused to the Lae district treasury or any one else.
