MBP disaster office receives K100,000

The Milne Bay disaster office has received K100,000 from the National Government to pay the expenses incurred during the relief supply programme for the floo-affected people.
“So far, a total of K194,000 had been received from the National Disaster Centre (NDC) to pay out the expenses that were incurred during the distribution of the relief supply programme,” Milne Bay disaster office coordinator Eric Balaria said.
“The programme was implemented in two stages which began on Nov 19 and was completed on Dec 9.
“Various individuals, communities and business houses in the province and non-governmental organisations (NGO) have also helped donated supplies to participate in the programme.
“The expenses covered the payments for food, water, tarpaulins, mosquito nets, medicines, hiring of the helicopter and others.
“The total expenses now stand at about K500,000.
“NDC will provide the money as long as I sent my acquittals,” he said.
People in Makamaka, Daga, Weraura districts in the Rabaraba area were affected by Cyclone Guba.
