Siune named chief of coffee group

FORMER agriculture minister Mathew Siune has been appointed chief executive officer of PNG Coffee Growers Federation (PNGCGF) Ltd.
PNGCGF chairman Jon Yogiyo made the formal announcement in Goroka last Thursday, and described Mr Siune as a “man of wisdom with a wealth of experience” in agriculture.
Mr Yogiyo said PNGCGF had developed small coffee growers marketing strategy over the last five years and was ready to mobilise farmers to export their coffee.
He said they wished to depend on quality and classification of their coffee as per requirement of their consumers and roasters in overseas market.
“We are pleased that Mr Siune, who has joined the team as CEO, will facilitate the development of PNGCGF to bring it to the next level,” Mr Yogiyo said.
He said the former minister had advocated for the promotion of coffee industry, especially in assisting growers in remote areas to get maximum benefits for their sweat.
