Buang links up for Christmas
By FRANK RAI
PEOPLE living in the Buang local level government area of Bulolo district in
Morobe will now enjoy their Christmas holidays in their villages.
This is because all road access into Buang villages have been maintained and
upgraded, thanks to Bulolo MP Sam Basil who initiated the Bulolo district
road maintenance programme (BDRMP).
The program is the first of its kind in the district where new equipment
were purchased by Mr Basil, three months after being elected into
Parliament.
Mr Basil told The National that there were three more feeder roads that
would be completed within this week.
“Mapos, Manga and Kwasang roads will be completed before this week and the
equipment will stand down for services to take on the Mumeng LLG area,” Mr
Basil said.
He said the BDRMP had been one of his strategies for district capacity
building.
He said a similar programme would be carried out with the new building and
maintenance team, water supply project team and foot bridge team.
Mr Basil said BDRMP had saved K60,000 a month which had been put back to
further the road maintenance at a cost of K20,000 a month to run a
bulldozer, two dump trucks and a backhoe.
He said this included the salaries of the operators, drivers and labourers
who work 10 days everyday.
According to Mr Basil, the Mumeng LLG road maintenance will commence at
Patep Hambu at the end of next month. |
