A wife of a policeman based in Simbu province stabbed her husband to death last Thursday afternoon in Kundiawa town, shocking police and residents in the Highlands town.
Provincial police commander Supt Joseph Tondop said the woman was suspicious of her husband going around with another woman and stabbed him to death inside their house with a kitchen knife.
Supt Tondop identified the deceased as Edvin Ivagi, a first constable based in the province.
He said the couple had one child, a boy. The woman was picked up by police and now is in Kundiawa police cell.
Appropriate charges would be laid against her once police complete their investigation into the killing.
The body of constable Ivagi was taken to Goroka Funeral Home last Thursday, and arrangement had being made to take the body home for burial in Bogia, Madang.
Supt Tondop said his death was a sad loss for police in the province.
