THE army hospital at Taurama Barracks in Port Moresby will undergo renovation at the cost of about K1.4 million, thanks to the Chinese government.
Chinese Ambassador to PNG Wei Ruixing and Defence Minister Bob Dadae signed the papers to carry out the project at Murray Barracks yesterday.
The cost of the maintenance and renovation will be borne by the Chinese government, and after the renovation the PNG Defence Force will take the responsibility to maintain the facilities.
Mr Ruixing said that work would commence around next March.
Meanwhile, Mr Dadae said he was happy for the assistance given by the Chinese government to assist the PNGDF.
PNGDF chief of staff captain (Navy) Alois Tom Ur and PNGDF chief of logistic Col Joe Fabila also attended the event.
