Observe, learn from Asians instead  of being bitter

I REFER to the letter “Racist or plain jealous?” (Dec 14).
Firstly, may I just say thank you for your opinion. I do realise, nowadays, there seems to be great bitterness towards Asians entering our country, legal and illegal, alike.
And it is foreseeable, no matter how hard we try and push against the tide, reality will still prevail.
Government, scholars and other critics will continue to call for tougher migration laws but truth be told, it will be hard to stop this issue.
Secondly, I definitely agree with you that we are to be blamed because most of us are plain lazy. We are drawn to the big city life, not knowing the dangers it has for us.
In addition, I am struggling with the idea that our towns and cities have beggars and street children wandering around. Yet we have many untapped resources in our backyard, enough to feed our country and Australia (if necessary).
Lastly, the “Asian-bashing” needs to end, because there are also other nationalities in our country illegally. This proves we are bias.
My advice is let us observe how they go about their business and learn from them so that we, too, can stand on our two feet.
Our nation is still in a transition and now is not the time to sit back and play the “I am better than you” game.
