SENTRY Magpies hooker Daniel Gendiís field goal two minutes before fulltime edged Mexico Lions 1-0 at the Buimo Road Off season rugby league competition at the Lord Mayorís Oval, Eriku, Lae on Saturday.

The score was 0-0 until two minutes remaining on the clock and on fifth tackle, Gendi made no mistake with his boots to sail the ball between the uprights for the 1-0 victory.
League coordinator Elson Goro said Lions had won six of its games so far and took the field as the favourite but did not click in its usual play of fast flowing and open football.
“Magpies put up a strong performance in both attack and defence and the field goal was all they needed to grab another two points to walk away with the win over their rivals,” Goro said.
“We had a good start with 24 teams playing in both A and B grade competition at Buimo Off Season competition and we are looking forward to another successful season this year,” he added.
