High-low a losing game – don’t be fooled

THERE are five high-low gaming locations in Goroka and the number is likely to increase. The game is targeted at the low-income earners in town and the ordinary villagers, and is already creating social problems for many families.
In Goroka, many people from the villages flock into town to play the game and they are being ripped off their hard-earned cash from coffee and other cash crops sales. I’ve seen many people lazing around at the game venues either to play or are just making guesses for the next lucky numbers and so forth.
We have seen some Asians introducing horse race gaming machines targeting ordinary people and school children in cities, towns and villages, causing a huge outcry from all sectors of the community. From my observation, high-low is no different to horse racing.
So Papua New Guineans, don’t be fooled to part with your hard-earned money.
I call on the Member for Goroka Thompson Harokaqveh and the Eastern Highlands governor to quickly address this issue.
