Muriki: Respect business houses in Mt Hagen

By ELIAS LARI
THE so-called landowners of Mt Hagen City are urged to respect business houses in the city or they could wind down their operations and go elsewhere.

Metropolitan commander Supt Theodore Muriki issued the warning last Friday after locals continuously attacked business houses in the city.
Supt Muriki revealed this during a compensation negotiation meeting between the Guard Dog Security company and Jika Akalimp tribe at the Mt Hagen police station last Friday.
The two parties negotiated compensation after locals demanded K50,000 from the security firm after they allegedly beat three youth from Akalimp tribe.
It was reported that the youth allegedly tried to steal a packet of chips at the Kim’s restaurant last Saturday.
Supt Muriki said Mt Hagen would not develop unless landowners learn to respect business houses, public facilities, the city and the people who are working and residing in the city.
He told leaders and youth who were present to respect the law and look after the public facilities, business houses and create a good environment for more businesses to come in and create more employment opportunity for the locals.
Guard Dog Security Services in Mt Hagen paid a total of K12,000 as compensation to the three youth.
