Rise in fuel unavoidable – biodiesel the only answer

I HAVE been reading the reports on rising fuel price these past weeks and trying to imagine how the people are feeling.
The increase in fuel price will set a chain reaction in the cost of living across the board.
For now, we point our fingers at InterOil.
Looking at the bigger picture, the global fuel prices had been increasing for the past couple of years due to fast depleting sources of fossil fuel.
This has made countries like the United States to look for alternative source of fuel like biodiesel or alcohol (ethanol) blended fuel.
Currently, there are 200 factories converting maize into ethanol or green fuel because it does not contaminate the air, thus does not contribute to the greenhouse effect.
It is estimated that about three-quarter of vehicle fuel alone will come from biodiesel or biofuel.
In Europe, about 500 million litres was reported to be produced per annum a year or two ago and it promised to double the production.
Many countries are now coming up with newer sources for alternative fuel.
The point here is that the fuel price will increase as conventional fuel is being depleted. Therefore, we have to source for alternative fuels.
With this, I call upon the leaders to look into alternative fuel sourcing like biodiesel (and ethanol).
