Adventist students to hold convention

THE Papua New Guinea Adventist Tertiary Student Association will hold its biennial convention and celebrate its 32nd anniversary from Dec 18 to 25 in Alotau.
The association is made up of Seventh-day Adventist students in tertiary institutions.
Guest speakers are Public Campus Ministries director international (SDA) Dr Juan Moon and former PNG Union Mission (SDA) president Pr Joseph Talipuan.
Association president Stanley Sauba said the convention was to empower students to be good and responsible citizens, spiritually enriched and to give back to the communities.
“There will be a big medical outreach (prior to the convention) covering the whole province by a group of 20 medical practitioners including medical students from University of PNG and Divine Word University,” Sauba said.
The medical vessel mv Kular Spirit will assist in transporting the medical practitioners and medical supplies.
Sauba said 10 students from each institutions will also carry out community-based enrichment programmes and awareness on issues affecting communities here and abroad.
“They will conduct programmes and awareness like free adult literacy, environment and climate change awareness, law and order issues and get the people to participate in the programmes,” Sauba said.
“We have identified 12 different areas in the province to run the clinic and the awareness programmes.”
