THE Fresh Produce Development Agency is working hard to help village vegetable farmers to become businessmen and women, according to its village vegetable extension programme officer Johnny Wemin.
“I conduct village vegetable farming extension training for farmers all around PNG,” Wemin said.
“I train them on methods of best practices on vegetable farming and lead them to grow into small to medium entrepreneurs.”
He said in the process, farmers were linked to some established vegetable markets to sell their produce to earn better prices.
“We then lead the farmers to venture into small to medium entrepreneur programmes where vegetable farming has empowered them to grow to become bigger businessmen and women,” he said.
Wemin said Fresh Produce Development Agency is committed to build farmers into millionaires from vegetable farming and earn respect that farmers in other countries are getting.
