Airline flies with World Cup


AIR Niugini has come on board to support the Fifa Under-20 Women’s World Cup to be held in Port Moresby in November and December this year.
In a meeting with Fifa officials in Port Moresby last week, Air Niugini general manager, customers and markets, Dominic Kaumu said the airline’s support was predominantly in kind assistance, comprising of air travel discounts and other promotional activities.
“Air Niugini is honoured to be associated with the renowned international football tournament.
“We thank Fifa for the opportunity to be a national supporter for the first Fifa event hosted in Papua New Guinea,” Kaumu said.
Fifa head of women’s football Tatjana Haenni said: “We are very pleased to welcome Air Niugini as the first national supporter of the Fifa U20 Women’s World Cup.
“National supporters play a crucial role in our events, particularly in the promotion of the tournament to local audiences.
“We are certain that Air Niugini as a national supporter will make a strong contribution to the success of the Fifa U20 Women’s World Cup across PNG.”
