Alleged wife killer to stand trial

A man who was charged with the murder of his wife was committed to stand trial by Bomana Committal Court yesterday.
Bradley Neri, from Western Highlands, allegedly stabbed his wife Mary Ketega on March 10, at Tabari Place, 4-Mile in the National Capital District.
Magistrate John Kaumi told the court that there was sufficient evidence to commit Neri for a trial.
Kaumi told Neri to instruct his lawyer and prepare and file his statement when the matter returned to court on Monday.
Police allege that Neri stabbed Ketega several times on the chest using a Rambo knife.  Ketega was in the company of her mother and another woman when the incident occurred.  The court ordered that Neri remain in custody at Bomana prison and reappear in court on Oct 24.
It was alleged that after his arrest, Neri escaped from custody at the Boroko police cells through “snake-bail”, with two police officers allegedly enabling the escape.
Officers Tony Kande and Stanley Tempon allegedly enabled the escape. Their case is before the committal court, both facing a charge of wilfully permitting the escape of a prisoner.
Neri was rearrested on March 11.
