Alotau set to host darts tournament

The township of Alotau, Milne Bay is set to host the Papua New Guinea national darts championship this weekend.
President and local host organising chairman Terence Soba confirmed that 12 associations in the country have affiliated and shown interest to participate.
He said Port Moresby Darts Association would send six teams followed by other smaller associations in Central, Northern, Morobe and Madang.
Associations from the Highlands region are also on the cards to give Port
Moresby and host Alotau a fair challenge.
Soba confirmed yesterday that training for technical officials was underway and would be followed by the managers’ meeting with the executives of the PNG Darts Federation (PNGDF).
The opening ceremony will be staged tomorrow after lunch by the local MP and Deputy Prime Minister Charles Abel.
Soba said preparations have been good and thanked business houses and the Abel for their support.
He said Alotau was known for hosting big events and his committee was ready to provide the best welcome and hospitality to the visiting teams.
Meanwhile PNGDF executives will be holding its annual meeting to discuss its operational plans, financial status, international competitions and local
calendar for all stakeholders in the country.
