THE Hides Gas Development Company will work together with the Nana Development Corporation (NDC) from Alaska in its operations in Hela.
Charlie Curtis, Nana Pacific’s senior adviser and chief strategist, and Stan Fleming, president of Nana Pacific (a subsidiary of NDC) and senior vice-president and chief strategy officer of the NDC were at the HGDC operations sites at Para yesterday.
Clan chiefs led by HGDC chairman   Tuguyawini Libe Pirindali welcomed Curtis and Fleming.
Pirindali said the traditionally-attired Hela men “show that we welcome you to Hela land.
“You are part of our society, our family,” he said.
“You have the freedom to move and live among our people. It is a traditional welcome fitting for a king, fitting for a chief.
“This is what your people from the Nana region deserve from the people of Hela region, Hides region.”
Curtis said it was a blessing and honour to be in Hides.
“You have a beautiful country, beautiful people, beautiful tradition and more importantly, you have touched my heart (the way) you have welcomed me,” Curtis said.
“We are a one family, one journey, one vision, one mission.
“Nana had the opportunity 45 years ago to take our own destiny with our own hands.”
